As a YVC lifelong singer and graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver with a bachelors degree in music education, Kimean has strived to inspire a respect and appreciation for music from all cultures in her students. One of her favorite teaching moments is when she taught a unit on the music of Cambodia during her student teaching at Grandview High School. Her own musical journey began with studying classical piano, where she won several musical competitions, including the 2014 Sonatina Festival. Her musicality developed even further when she joined Young Voices of Colorado. During her time in the choir, she served as a member of choir council and had the honor of singing Ave Maria in the Notre Dame cathedral. At MSU Denver, Kimean was the recipient of the L. Quinn-Rudolph and Jerald D. McCollum Scholarships, president of the ACDA student chapter, and assistant director of the Treble Choir. Her moments of greatest joy are found in discovering new ways to explain and nurture healthy vocal technique, the rehearsal, and the Rocky Mountains.
